MSHA ANNOUNCES NEW SHOW APPROVAL STANDARDS

Beginning in 2008, MSHA will require all Minnesota Saddlebred horse shows to be accredited.  This change is to ensure that all shows accredited for Summer Series and Year End Awards programs offer the appropriate classes, send prize lists to members and provide timely show results.  MSHA has been one of only a few organizations that did not require shows to obtain accreditation.  A nominal $55 fee will be charged for approval.  Only points from MSHA-approved shows will be counted for our programs.

In response to member comments, MSHA will ensure that all show results received are forwarded to ASHA, AHHS and USEF to record the results for their various programs, such as "CH" championship points, State Pleasure Horse Awards, and the Hackney Registry.  As a further service for exhibitors, MSHA will also send results to the national publications including Saddle & Bridle, National Horseman and Saddle Horse Report for publication and to be included in their award programs.

The MSHA board believes the new show approval standards will add consistency to show schedules and give appropriate recognition to shows in Minnesota.
